Are you currently undertaking your 4th/5th year studies in a Bachelor of Planning qualification and interested in gaining paid work experience to complement your area of study? If yes, then Randwick City Council is currently offering a Student Strategic Planner position.

This position is full-time and the successful candidate will need to commit to working a 35 hour week for the full 12 month internship commencing early February 2021.

Located in the vibrant eastern suburbs with plenty of interesting planning projects, this opportunity will offer the successful candidate a great start to their career through direct involvement in a variety of responsibilities and duties undertaken by Council’s Strategic Planning team.

To be considered for this position you must meet the following criteria:

  • Be studying to obtain, or a completed tertiary qualification at degree level in Planning
  • Have a basic understanding of the functions and aims of the Environmental Planning and Assessment Act 1979
  • Familiarity with the role of planning within local government
  • Basic research and critical analysis skills preferably in land use
  • Ability to manage multitask workloads, deadlines and projects
  • Ability to communicate effectively with people
  • Demonstrated report writing skills
  • Commitment to customer service
  • Demonstrated commitment to EEO, WHS and the principles for a culturally diverse society
