Position Purpose

The Administrative Assistant works with the Academic Quality, Compliance and Risk team to
support activities related to the quality assurance and continuous improvement of academic
practice. Under routine supervision the Administrative Assistant gathers, collates, and
maintains information and records; provides operational and logistical support to reporting,
accreditation, and academic quality activities; and ad hoc administrative support to projects
led by the Quality Assurance team, within the Office of Academic Quality, Curriculum
Management and Policy.

About the Work Area

The Office of Academic Quality, Curriculum Management and Policy provides essential services
in relation to the quality, standards and compliance of Murdoch University as an Australian
University Provider. This includes responsibility for the monitoring and assurance of
fundamental legislative compliance requirements including but not limited to the Higher
Education Standards Framework, ESOS and the National Code and HESA. The area comprises
two key work areas each comprising a number of discrete but related functions.

The Curriculum and Student Integrity Services unit comprises curriculum portfolio, curriculum
management and student integrity functions responsible for the operational application of
core standards in curriculum, design, review, governance, academic integrity and student
conduct. This unit leads the strategic initiative Curriculum @ Murdoch (C@M).

The Quality and Enhancement Services unit is responsible for academic quality and standards,
assurance, education policy, international compliance, professional accreditation and process
and data quality enhancement services in support of compliance with relevant standards and
the realisation of improved operational efficiency and efficacy. This unit leads the strategic
initiatives Think Enhancement @ Murdoch – Academic Quality (TE@M-AQ) and Education
Policy Renewal Program (EPRP).

Key Responsibilities/Duties

1. Assist in the preparation of reports, recommendations, and associated

3. Maintain consistent quality and a high level of accuracy in the data entry of
documentation relevant to compliance and risk activities, considerate of current
standards and compliance.

4. Support the collation and maintenance of local records management in accordance
with Murdoch University policies and procedures.

5. Work within a project team environment to perform a variety of general administrative
and project related functions as required.

6. Provide support to the Quality Assurance team, ensuring all reporting and governance
activities function efficiently.

7. Liaise with and maintain appropriate communications with all internal and external
stakeholders in review and accreditation processes.

8. Carry out, and assist with, other duties as required.

Selection Criteria


1. Relevant certificate level qualification with post-certificate relevant work experience
and/or an equivalent combination of relevant work experience and education/training.

2. Demonstrated high level of computer literacy including the ability to confidently
navigate a variety of web based and desktop applications, with the capability and
willingness to learn new packages as appropriate.

3. Demonstrated experience undertaking a broad range of administrative support
activities in a large and complex organisation.

4. Ability to maintain confidentiality, use discretion and work professionally at all times.

5. High level of organisational, time and workload management skills, including the ability
to prioritise workload to meet strict deadlines.

6. High level of attention to detail.

7. Excellent professional communication skills and experience in liaising with a range of
internal and external stakeholders.

8. Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team.

9. Demonstrated ability to assume responsibility for tasks and to resolve routine


1. Previous experience in a University or large, complex organisation.
