The Role
As the Base Support Officer you will work closely with both internal/ external stakeholders and customers/ contractors to ensure essential services are delivered efficiently, and our Defence Bases and Office environments are maintained to a high standard. You will have a sound understanding of departmental business and deliverables, exercise initiative and judgement in the interpretation and application of policy, work with enablers and design and recommend solutions and appropriate management strategies to whole of base operational and service delivery issues. You will also play a lead role in ensuring that our bases are safe, secure and prepared to respond to emergencies.

You may work independently with the opportunity for reasonable autonomy and be accountable for achieving your deliverables.

About our Team
Base Management Team responsibilities:
  • Operational performance/ issues management for contracted support services delivered to base via Defence’s Base Services Contracts including, but not limited to, Estate and Building Maintenance, Project Delivery Support, Land Environment and Heritage Management, Accommodation and Housing, Transport, Waste Management, Hospitality and Catering, Cleaning, and Sport and Recreation.
  • Monitor/ respond to issues by evaluating for legislation, regulations or standards compliance, ensuring currency and consistency.
  • Work collaboratively with stakeholders including ADF colleagues/ contracted partners/ regional and national subject matter experts/ external agencies.
  • Enhance customer experience assuring prescribed product and services standards are met within time frames whilst identifying opportunities for improvements.
  • Assess risks/ provide risk management strategies guidance.
  • Coordinate/ undertake planning activities for Work Health and Safety, and, Security and Emergency Management.
  • Development, rehearsal and maintenance of base plans/ instructions for business objectives.
  • Build/ sustain effective working relationships.
