Job Description

Bureaux Coffee

Are you looking to get a foot in the door with coffee roasting? This might just be your big chance. We're on the look out for an enthusiastic and energetic Roastery Assistant to join our team and take up a crucial role in our efforts to source, roast, and share the best coffees we can.

  • Work with great coffee and even better people
  • Make a big impact in a small team
  • Earn above award-rate pay

Starting at two days a week but with scope to grow, you'll be working under the guidance of our Head Roaster, Haley. Your day will involve setting up batches of coffee for roasting, readying bags and tubs for filling, packing and collating orders for dispatch, and occasionally delivering those orders to our customers.

You'll learn how to schedule and manage a production day, fulfil online orders, manage outbound shipments with our couriers, and get hands-on experience with all aspects of coffee roasting. Parallel to production responsibilities, there will be ongoing cleaning, tidying, organising, and restocking tasks to be undertaken.

Despite this being a roastery role, our whole team interacts with customers regularly, and we'll be looking for someone who does so with respect, enthusiasm, and sincerity.

We strive to make this a great place to work, and listen to our team's ideas on how to improve. As a part of that small and tight-knit team, we'll be looking to you to bring a positive attitude and an eagerness to work proactively, enthusiastically, and accountably alongside your team mates.

This role starts immediately with consideration given for notice periods.

Please note:

  • We are an inclusive workplace and welcome all gender identities, sexual orientations, national origins, races, ages, and religions.
  • Previous experience is not essential, though this role is well suited to someone currently working as a barista or elsewhere in the hospitality industry, looking to move into coffee roasting.
  • This is a physical and time-sensitive role. It involves lifting, cleaning, organising, attention to detail, time management, and prioritisation.
  • The role does not currently include coffee roasting or roasting training but may extend to this in the future for the right candidate.
