Narrabri Shire Council is seeking an experienced and enthusiastic Media Officer with exceptional communication skills to join our Community Relations team.

You will be responsible for developing and delivering a range of communication for all channels, including print, email, social and digital content. The successful candidate will be an excellent writer capable of drafting engaging content for a range of audiences. They will also be responsible for maintaining Council’s image, gaining publicity and disseminating information to members of the press or other media.

Reporting directly to the Community Relations Manager, you will contribute to communications and public relation activities, improve customer service and organisational effectiveness.


  • You will be a highly motivated, individual with excellent interpersonal and communication skills (both written and verbal), with a proven ability to effectively build relationships and communicate with a diverse range of stakeholders.
  • You will have a working background of media liaison and current media practices, along with research and analytical skills.
  • You will have extensive experience in using visual and graphic design principles and practices to develop, implement, enhance and evaluate communications and public relation strategies and campaigns.
