Government department seeks experienced Graphic Designer to provide quality graphic design services, finished art skills and creative services advice

Graphic Designer opportunity

  • Approx. $40-$50 per hour plus Super
  • Full-time, contract until end of Feb 2022. Immediate start
  • Adelaide CBD/ WFH Arrangement

About the role:

Government department requires an experienced Graphic Designer for a short-term contract until the end of February 2022 to provide quality graphic design services, finished art skills and creative services advice. You will work closely with Managers and staff across the Department, as well as creative graphic design and illustration personnel in other State Government agencies and service providers.

Responsibilities and duties:

Reporting to the Brand and Marketing Manager, your responsibilities will include:

  • Develop, design, create and implement a range of corporate visual collateral, electronic communications guidelines and a diverse range of items for the Department including, online and hard copy publications and documents.
  • Contribute to the development and coordination of State Brand and agency branding guidelines in relation to publication design and corporate visual images, ensuring a high standard of professionalism in visual creation across the Department is maintained.
  • Provide a consultancy and advisory service through the Marketing Manager to Business teams to inform decision making regarding graphic design and multimedia options.
  • Develop and maintain key partnerships across the department to ensure engagement and the delivery of brand compliance.
  • Liaise with creative and print suppliers and contractors, as required, to ensure briefs are accurately interpreted, and products are delivered on time and to quality standards.
  • Assist with the development and implementation of graphic design processes, policies, procedures and guidelines.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement, and quality performance of the departments marketing, promotion and communications activities, including monitoring of adherence to government and legislative branding, marketing and communications requirements.

Experience and Technical Skills:

To be successful in this role you must demonstrate:

  • 3+ years' experience in a similar Graphic design role within a government environment
  • Experience with large-scale brand roll-outs and guidelines preferred
  • Expertise in creating, producing and editing accurate and engaging content across a variety of digital and multimedia formats.
  • Proven experience in developing, maintaining and reviewing promotional, marketing or communication materials and delivering a range of graphic design services.
  • Proven experience in maintaining constructive and effective working relationships with stakeholders, providing timely and accurate advice and information.
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Cloud and the Microsoft Office suite of products.


  • Tertiary qualifications in Graphic Design, Multimedia Visual Art, or a related discipline
