The Social Marketing and Communications team is focused on supporting healthy eating and active living across NSW, working with a wide range of stakeholders, audiences and channels. We’re looking for an energetic team member with strong experience in social media strategy, and content creation.

Where you'll be working
The Centre for Population Health (CPH) aims to promote health and prevent morbidity and mortality caused by modifiable risk factors. The CPH portfolio encompasses blood borne viruses, sexual health, tobacco and obesity. The strategies used to address these issues include state-wide policy and planning, legislation and regulation, program development, resource allocation, performance monitoring, research and evaluation.

The CPH works closely with service provider organisations such as Local Health Districts (LHDs) to manage and support the local delivery of agreed policies, programs and services across the state. Programs and services funded by the CPH are delivered in government, non-government, community and clinical settings. The CPH approach is characterised by a focus on evidence-informed programmatic and system-level interventions that improve health, reduce health inequity, create healthy environments, promote community action, enable personal health-seeking and recognise the social determinants of good health.

The Social Marketing and Communications Team lead best practice healthy eating and active living consumer communications to increase access to information, programs and services to motivate and support behaviour change. The role of the Social Marketing and Communications team is to:

  • Deliver integrated, high quality end to end communications, marketing and branding activities through our communication channels, including targeted approaches to reach priority populations
  • Partner with stakeholders and specialist technical providers to drive digital integration
  • Ensure all communications are aligned with communications strategies and initiatives delivered by the NSW Government, NSW Ministry of Health and CPH, and meet NSW Government requirements.

What you'll be doing
The Project Officer - Social Marketing is responsible for delivering high quality, strategic, engaging social media and digital content.
The Project Officer - Social Marketing:

  • implements the social media strategy including design, development, scheduling and monitoring of content and channels, ensuring key messages are aligned with relevant guidelines and policies
  • advises on NSW Government communications guidelines and best practice, and develops positive relationships across NSW Government agencies to identify strategic content alignment
  • advises on social media strategies and supports the team with project implementation.

Selection Criteria

  • Demonstrated skills and experience in the development, delivery and evaluation of digital and traditional communications.
  • Proven ability to implement and evaluate campaigns across various communication channels including media, website and social media.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage and operate the organisations’s official social media channels, including Facebook, Instagram and YouTube. Ensure community management best practice and crisis communications management, including contentious issues online.
  • Demonstrated experience in social media listening, monitoring, insights/reporting and an ability to assist internal stakeholders with their social media requirements and responsibilities.
  • Demonstrated organisational skills, the capacity to successfully complete several tasks concurrently and to achieve competing deadlines.
  • Effective verbal, written communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to prepare complex reports and submissions, which include reporting data.
  • Ability to work flexibly and effectively across program areas within the Centre for Population Health if required.

COVID-19 Vaccination Compliancy
All NSW Health workers are required to have completed a primary course of a COVID-19 vaccine which has been approved or recognised by the Therapeutics Goods Administration (TGA). New applicants must have completed the vaccination course prior to commencement with NSW Health, or provide an approved medical contraindication certificate certifying the worker cannot have any approved COVID-19 vaccines available in NSW.
Acceptable proof of vaccination is the Australian Immunisation Register (AIR) Immunisation History Statement or AIR COVID-19 Digital Certificate. Booster doses are highly recommended for all health care workers who have completed the primary course of COVID-19 vaccinations. Please provide proof of booster vaccination if available.
