Job Description

The Web Developer with Information Technology services is accountable for the development and maintenance of Chisholm Institute’s web systems and applications particularly on a Sitecore platform.

This position will lead and be a part of the initiative to build an integrated web solution model, for all general purpose and purpose-built web sites and contribute directly to the Institute’s web strategy in the medium and long term.

Your key accountabilities will include but is not limited to:

  • Developing and delivering high-performing technology solutions that are aligned with strategic goals to meet customer expectations and build a technology oriented platform for learning and business services.
  • Delivering continuous improvement initiative projects to enhance student outcomes, increase enrolments and facilitate Institute growth and financial performance.
  • Enhancing service delivery and customer satisfaction by implementing critical and complicated technology improvements to business-critical applications and systems.
  • Evaluating and undertaking impact analysis on major design options and assess associated risks in a way to direct business towards decision making.
  • Actively engaging with business stakeholders to ensure IT project deliverables meet business requirements.
  • Developing new Sitecore applications in the Azure SaaS environment and migrating existing Sitecore environments to the Azure SaaS environment.
  • Supporting testing, training, and implementation activities for Institute employees to ensure the successful solution.


You will have relevant tertiary qualifications in Computer Science, Information Technology or similar, Sitecore developer certification and experience with Microsoft Architect Certification.

The following skills and experience are essential:
  • Extensive experience in developing web-based content management systems that are Sitecore CMS based and experience in leading development of Sitecore and custom .NET (C#) technology-based solutions.
  • Solid understanding of software architecture practices and knowledge of Azure SaaS, PaaS and IaaS technologies, basic understanding of RESTful APIs, experience using source control such as GIT and TFS and Microsoft Azure development.
  • Strong knowledge of .NET Framework, ASP.NET, C#, Office 365 and other components of Microsoft technology.
  • Experience working with SQL Server databases, experience with corporate Front End Web design/development experience with Hypertext Markup Language. (HTML) 5, JavaScript (jQuery and native), Cascading Style Sheets (CSS3), Structured Query Language (SQL), SASS or LESS, Bootstrap.
  • Working knowledge of web design tools such as Adobe CS5 Suite and Visual Studio.
  • Understanding Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) principles and knowledge of when and how to use Web Accessibility Initiative – Accessible Rich Internet Applications (WAI-ARIA) attributes.
  • Strong understanding of Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) concepts and enterprise design patterns.
  • Experience in developing and deploying existing and new Sitecore environment to the Microsoft Azure App service and experience performing upgrades to Sitecore environments.
  • Well-developed negotiation and interpersonal skills with the proven ability to work at a senior level with internal and external resources.
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills with a high degree of initiative and flexibility.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team and independently as well as excellent written and verbal communications skills.
